Sustainability and a conscious approach to nature are more important than ever nowadays and therefore enjoy the highest priority in our family hotel. Due to the natural location of the Sonnwies, it is a matter of the heart for us as hosts to process raw materials from the immediate vicinity.
1. Sustainable construction
Our exclusive construction method is well thought-out and, given its natural resources and diversity, meets the highest standard criteria of sustainability. The interior design of our hotel is exclusively composed of solid wood furniture as well as natural elementary textiles. Furthermore, natural stone from Pfitsch and from the Dolomites as well as handcrafted natural steel is used.
2. 100% organic materials
In particular, we focus our tireless efforts on ensuring that you and your children will have a healthy and good night's sleep. In order to be able to grant them the best possible sleeping comfort, every sleeping place is completely free of electromagnetic fields. The room cosmetics are also 100% organic. However, you will not only find local natural products in the interior design. Since our façades are finished with local larch, they blend unmistakably into the idyllic surroundings around Lüsen.
3. Learning and understanding nature
One of our special features is our manufactory, where we make it possible for your little ones to experience the Alpine tradition of craftsmanship through a targeted and varied range of activities. Through activities such as wreath making, butter churning or tasting local products, we want to teach them the careful use of sustainable materials at an early age.
4. Regional cycle
Equally, our culinary focus is on regionality, seasonality and quality. Our in-house chefs use healthy and fresh ingredients from the region, the Alpine region and Italy. Meat, herbs, salads, jams and butter come from our own farm, depending on the season and whenever possible. The breakfast buffet contains well over 100 products and with our large selection of distinctive lunch as well as dinner menus we surprise you with South Tyrolean home cooking, Italian delicacies and first-class organic menus.
5. Electromobility
Since 2019, our entire hotel complex has several charging stations for your emission-free electric car. For short excursions in the near vicinity, we have taken care of everything. The in-house rental of e-bikes (for a fee) allows our guests to reach destinations comfortably and stress-free by bike.
6. Cozy warm, but climate neutral
You will immediately notice how cosy and warm it is in the cosy rooms and suites, but also in the large Aquapark, as well as in all areas of the house. We generate the heat for this with our own biomass heating power plant, which we fire exclusively with wood from our forests.
7. Green electricity
We use 100% CO2-free green electricity from the Lüsner Kleinwasserwerk. Yes, 100%!! The Lüsner Bach, named Lasanke, which rises from the heights of the Lüsner Alm, not only supplies us with fresh water and its soothing sound. 365 days a year, "our stream" provides us with the necessary power to operate our small hydroelectric power plant. From the air conditioning to the energy-hungry cooker tops in the Sonnwies kitchen, from the light in your room to the full charge of your e-car and your mobile phone. Every watt consumed at Sonnwies comes 100% from our own hydroelectric power.
