As a true luxury we see our private forest access with its refreshing streams and retreats, the Culinary Garden with daily fresh harvest, the close contact with our special animal breeds and the immediate proximity to the alpine pasture and the Dolomites. In addition to this energizing natural setting, we would like to make traditional South Tyrolean traditions and rituals accessible to young and old with our unique nature children's program and the weekly Farm Day. A day filled with nature-related highlights, family fun and culinary delights.

Inspired by past times

How did the idea for Farm Day come about?

Anna Hinteregger, hostess: We grew up surrounded by nature, on our farm and on the alpine pasture. Our grandparents and parents have taught us simple and at the same time so valuable traditions. Nowadays, these customs are almost no longer accessible. But here at Sonnwies, it is our heart's desire to make it possible for families from all over the world to experience "life as it used to be", combined with the highest level of service. So that all our guests, young and old, get an insight into typical South Tyrolean life, the idea of a weekly Farm Day was born.

How to appreciate simplicity

What are the highlights of the weekly Farm Day?

Anna: On Farm Day, which takes place weekly, we let families immerse themselves in the world of yesteryear. Over an open fire, there are a number of culinary highlights. Together we stir fresh farmer's butter with cream from the mountain pasture and we cook Kaiserschmarrn according to grandma's recipe. All of this is tasted with relish and tastes even better because children actively help out and get a connection to high-quality food. Children learn where fresh ingredients grow during the garden tour with farmer's wife Monika. Along the way they meet all kinds of fluffy companions, alpacas, rabbits, ponies, sheep, our house cat and much more. Together we will feed, stroke and groom the animals. And of course, a tractor ride together with farmer Hans is not to be missed. Last but not least, creativity is called for when making animal masks with natural materials from the forest.

Fluffy friends

How close can children interact with the animals?

At Sonnwies Farm live very rare and endangered breeds of animals and we are particularly proud of this. Children love to visit the animals in the stable and in the garden. On Farm Day they also have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the fluffy creatures. Together we feed, we stroke, ride on the ponies and enjoy the peace and trust that you radiate.

"On Farm Day, young and old alike receive impressions that will be remembered for a long time, even after their time out at Sonnwies.", Anna Hinteregger
