Creation of our mansion

 

1400: when it all started

Our estate is first mentioned in a document.
There was a shelter, a fire house, an oven, fields, meadows, forests and a herb garden.

1983: an old piece of Luson is auctioned off

The old, very devout peasant woman of the centuries-old worry yard donated the yard to the church. When the caregiver auctioned the yard in 1983, the family Hinteregger bought it - and the eldest son Hans, today's farmer, received it as an inheritance.

1986-2002: Development years full of hard work

Three years later, Hans started to reconstruct the courtyard. The barn was renovated in 1990. In 1991 he married Angelika, the current manager of the house. The two now have four adult children. At that time, apart from agriculture, some holiday apartments provided for their living. In 1998 the young couple fulfilled a dream: the construction of a 3-star guest house with 25 rooms - Angelika was cooking, Hans was serving.


2002 - 2010: Specialization in families

In 2002 the family pension became a member of the family hotels and the first cornerstone for specializing the offer was laid. The rooms were merged into 17 units and 6 employees were hired. In 2006 they took a big risk: the renovation of the house, the enlargement of the rooms, the dining room, the game rooms and the expansion to 35 suites. Indoor pool and sauna were added. The leap in quality to a 4****-family hotel was accomplished. In 2010 the new wellness area Salientes Runcada was added.

Today: The Hintereggers keep dreaming …

Today the wellness hotel works with 80 employees, the Hintereggers strictly pursue the quality strategy. There is an area exclusively for parents in the wellness area, in 2011 all rooms were refurbished, in spring 2012 the entrance area and the bar were renewed, and a cozy lounge area was created. Aquapark, water worlds, suites and luxury suites and much more were added. Playground and petting zoo also grew, the animals have a beautiful area, the riding area is huge.

Today the Sonnwies is the unique combination of a mountain farm and a luxury family hotel. It is one of the leading family hotels in Europe. In 2018 and 2019, the resort was awarded the renowned Trip Advisor Traveller's Chioce Award.
