Summer in the Dolomites offers families staying at Sonnwies unforgettable experiences amidst breathtaking nature. A unique, nature-oriented children's program completes the experience. Spacious retreats in the open air, cooling off in the pools with mountain views, and many intimate family moments contribute to a special stay. Children get to experience authentic farm life up close on our idyllic farm, home to rare animal breeds. They can engage in fun, hands-on activities that bring them closer to nature and the rhythms of rural life, including:

The experience includes a guided garden tour with tastings of freshly harvested produce, close encounters with our friendly alpacas, and lively traditional music. Families can also enjoy roasting chestnuts and savoring freshly prepared Kaiserschmarrn straight from our farm kitchen. An authentic day filled with fun, flavors, and cultural delights for all ages!

Alpine Day at the Foot of the Dolomites
Every Wednesday, on sunny days from July to September, families can experience the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites up close at our very own Kalkofen Hut. Children are taken to the hut by Farmer Hans on a fun tractor ride.
Once there, families can look forward to a true alpine adventure featuring:
- A fun-filled alpine olympics for all ages
- A delicious lunch with freshly prepared Kaiserschmarrn
- Traditional live music to set the perfect mood
This culinary experience can be complemented by a gentle hike amidst the Dolomites or an exciting e-bike tour, making it a memorable day for the whole family.

Families can enjoy breathtaking views of the majestic mountains throughout the journey. A special highlight is a stop at the Fornella Hut, where both young and old can refuel with delicious, traditional alpine specialties, making the adventure even more memorable.
The Rodenecker-Lüsner Alm is the ideal spot for gentle family hikes. Along the way, the Kreuzwiesenalm invites you to take a cozy break, where families can relax in a peaceful atmosphere, enjoy the fresh mountain air, and recharge for the rest of their journey.

Just a 15-minute drive from Sonnwies, the Plose mountain station offers the perfect starting point for an unforgettable tandem paragliding adventure. To reach the mountain station, you’ll take a scenic gondola ride (fee required), adding to the excitement of the journey. Once at the top, soar above the breathtaking landscapes of South Tyrol, with panoramic views of the majestic Dolomites and lush alpine meadows. Guided by experienced pilots, this thrilling tandem flight (fee required) is safe and suitable for both beginners and adventure seekers.
From Sonnwies, it’s a 15-minute drive to the Plose Mountain area. Upon arrival, you’ll take a scenic gondola ride (fee required) up to the mountain station. From there, get ready for an adrenaline-filled descent with the Plose Bob (fee required). These bobs offer a thrilling ride down winding alpine trails, surrounded by breathtaking views of the Dolomites. A refreshing experience is the Kneipp therapy in the clear mountain streams, stimulating circulation and revitalizing energy. Another highlight is the Luson natural swimming pond, fed by fresh spring water from the Luson mountains. The spacious sunbathing lawns and a giant slide offer even more fun and relaxation. Sonnwies guests can visit the natural swimming pond at any time free of charge and immerse themselves in the peaceful atmosphere of this unique mountain lake in the Eisack Valley Dolomites.

The Family Nature Culinary is included throughout your stay, offering daily fresh, regional dishes that celebrate the vibrant flavors of summer. Delicious products from the hotel’s own 1,200 m² organic culinary garden and the Sonnwies farm, such as juicy berries, aromatic herbs, and fresh vegetables, are featured in the menus, ensuring pure, authentic taste. Special culinary requests for children are lovingly accommodated. The highlight of the day is the 5-course dinner, featuring homemade farm butter, freshly baked bread, and a wild herb salad bowl with vegetables straight from the garden.
